My grandmother is my inspiration. She was one of the first women in Congress in my birth country, Iran, and she courageously fought for women’s right to vote in a time when progress was all but impossible. Her memory is a constant reminder to me of what is possible when we come together to fight for what is right and just, for women and for everyone.

I support a woman’s right to choose, and I support efforts to expand access to contraception.

The US is the only industrialized nation in the world without a national paid family leave policy or guaranteed paid sick leave, and I will work to change that in Congress.

I will fight for equal pay for all women, and I will work to ensure the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission fully enforces non-discrimination in the workplace.

And I will defend Title IX programs that protect young women and girls on campuses all across this nation.
