Sima Ladjevardian Hosts Virtual Conversation with Bun B, Officially Endorsed By Legendary Houston Rapper
August 20, 2020
HOUSTON, Texas -- On Wednesday, TX-02 Democratic nominee Sima Ladjevardian hosted a Facebook Live discussion with legendary Houston rapper and activist Bun B about the stakes of this year’s election, the fight for racial equality, the tough conversations Houston families are having around the dinner table, and the prospects of Bun B running for elected office.
“I am honored to be joined by a tireless activist and community leader like you, Bun B,” Sima Ladjevardian said. “I want to fight the American Dream that afforded me so much because I feel that those opportunities are in jeopardy for too many Texans — especially for our black and brown communities suffering in the hands of racial injustice. We need elected leaders who are ready to take action for our health care, our economy, and our schools, and that’s exactly what I’m ready to do in Congress. Thank you for all the work you do for this city, Bun B, and I’m grateful to be fighting for Houston alongside you.”
“Our lives are far more similar than they are different, and we need to do everything we can to preserve that common ground in America,” Bun B said. “We need elected officials that are willing to hear us out, willing to compromise, and willing to make progress. We need those leaders here now more than ever. If someone decides to run for office who doesn’t represent the best of this city, I know I’d have to consider [running]. That’s why you’re doing this for Houston. Thank you for having me, Sima — and if it’s okay with you, I’d like to publicly announce my support for you and your congressional campaign.”
“That is absolutely okay, and very welcome,” Sima said. “Thank you Bun B — let’s go win this together.”
