Sima Ladjevardian Condemns Crenshaw’s Reckless Lawsuit to Dismantle Health Care
HOUSTON, Texas -- Today, TX-02 Democratic nominee Sima Ladjevardian issued the following statement in response to the Trump administration’s horrifying decision to pursue a full repeal of the ACA and its protections for Texans with pre-existing conditions before the Supreme Court:
“As a breast cancer survivor with many pre-existing conditions, health care is deeply personal to me — and as the district’s first-ever congresswoman, I’ll fight every day to protect it. Late last night, I was disturbed to learn that Congressman Crenshaw and Texas Republicans intend to kill all protections for pre-existing conditions while dismantling the Affordable Care Act for millions of Americans in their reckless lawsuit. Crenshaw has more than 340,000 constituents with pre-existing conditions — 51 percent of our district— and it is unimaginable to me that he wants to gut his neighbors’ health lifeline in the middle of COVID-19.
“Crenshaw repeatedly voted to support this lawsuit that would strip health care from 2 million of our fellow Texans. Ripping health care away from 23 million Americans is heartless under normal circumstances, but choosing to do so in the middle of a global pandemic is truly despicable. Dan Crenshaw should be ashamed of himself for doubling down on these efforts to destroy our health care system, and Houstonians will hold him accountable for his votes come November. ”
