Sima Ladjevardian’s Response for 700,000 Uninsured Texans Due to COVID-19
HOUSTON, Texas -- Today, TX-02 Democratic nominee Sima Ladjevardian issued the following statement on the 700,000 Texans who have lost their health care as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new study from the nonpartisan group Families USA:
"As a breast cancer survivor, I stand here today because of preventive health care and affordable treatments. That’s what makes these findings particularly disturbing. Too many Texans are being forced to choose between life saving medication and feeding their family while shameless politicians like Congressman Dan Crenshaw downplay this virus and spread dangerous disinformation. If Crenshaw and Texas Republicans have their way, two million more Texans would lose their coverage and the Affordable Care Act would be ripped apart. It’s unacceptable, and Houstonians will hold Crenshaw accountable for his votes come November.
“In Congress, I will fight to make health care more affordable, take on drug companies to lower their exorbitant costs, and protect coverage for Texans with pre-existing conditions — including those with lifelong side effects from COVID-19.”
