RATINGS CHANGE: Inside Elections Shift TX-02 Toward Sima
August 7, 2020
HOUSTON, Texas -- Today, Inside Elections moved TX-02 in Democratic nominee Sima Ladjevardian’s favor. The latest ratings shift comes a month after Sabato’s Crystal Ball did the same, noting that the 2nd District is highly-educated, and racially diverse, and majority urban-suburban — all key characteristics of Democratic victories in 2018. Combine the closeness of the 2018 Senate race in TX-02 — where Beto O’Rourke lost by only 3,099 votes — with 50,000 new voters registered in the past two years, and this seat is primed to flip.
In response, Sima Ladjevardian issued the following statement:
“This shift shows what we already know to be true: Houstonians are hungry for change. As a breast cancer survivor, I will bring a patient’s perspective to Congress and fight tirelessly to guarantee the high quality, affordable health care that our Houston family desperately needs. Dan Crenshaw is out of touch with the people of Houston — he has spent his time in Washington breaking his promise to lower prescription drug prices, voting to gut health care protections for our most vulnerable, and bending to the president’s will. This November, we’re going to send Crenshaw packing. We’re building a movement, and this is just the beginning.”
