Crenshaw Pockets $125,000 Book Advance While Houston Struggles

August 14, 2020

HOUSTON, Texas -- According to a new personal financial disclosure filed today, Congressman Dan Crenshaw is lining his pockets while Houston struggles through a pandemic. The congressman finally disclosed the $125,000 advance he received for his book — not including the NRCC’s nearly $400,000 investment spent on copies of Congressman Crenshaw’s book, or the “Trump Make America Great Again” Committee’s mass purchase of more “highly-discounted” copies. This news comes as the congressman falsely claims that the CARES Act and unemployment benefits make it “impossible”  to get Houston back to work — not the GOP’s failed Coronavirus response.

“As Houston faces the consequences of an unmitigated pandemic, Congressman Dan Crenshaw is cashing in on a book tour and wasting his constituents’ time,” Ladjevardian spokesman Dan Gottlieb said. “While Crenshaw counts his riches, Houston’s families are gasping for air. Congressman Crenshaw chastises Houston families who’ve fallen on hard times, villainizes their unemployment benefits, and votes to gut the Affordable Care Act on top of it all. That’s why Sima is ready to replace this pocket-lining politician, expand health care, and help our economy recover.”
