JOBS & THE ECONOMY
All workers deserve to earn a fair, livable wage. I support investing in our infrastructure to improve our roads, bridges, and water systems, and ensuring that those investments create good-paying jobs with labor protections.
We must invest in education, expanding access to high quality pre-K, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs, vocational training and re-training that connects talent and interest with the jobs that will drive the future.
We should embrace Houston’s role as the energy leader while continuing to diversify our economy. Texas is already the world leader in wind energy and we should build on that by expanding our footprint across clean-energy technology. Given the long history and expertise in the energy industry here in Harris County, we should continue to lead and grow into the green energy markets of the future.
And we should champion our centers of innovation and world-class research like Baylor, Rice, and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center to encourage growth in the fast-growing hi-tech and biotech research sectors.
